Scottish Deerhound dog pictured from a painting by Ole Larsen.
The Scottish Deerhound dog closely resembles the Irish Wolfhound, having probably been created from this large breed and the old hounds of the Picts or the Greyhound, whose general outlines are quite similar. He is courageous and dependable courser of deer, a graceful dog in movement and a real aristocrat of the canine family.

Scottish Deerhound Dog 1979 Picture History
Scottish Deerhound. The origin of the Deerhound breed is of such antiquity and the earliest descriptive names bestowed on it so inextricably mixed that no sound conclusion can be arrived at as to whether the Deerhound was at one time identical with the ancient Irish Wolfdog and, in the course of centuries, bred to a type better suited to hunt deer, or whether, as some writers claim, he is the descendant of the hounds of the Picts.

This wonderful wood trotting Scottish Deerhound Dog dog is hand cut, hand painted and resin-coated, giving each piece the details that make them complete and measures approximately 3 1/4 inches high.
This fellow can be used in many ways and I have included a picture of a chest that one of my dogs won for Best in Specialty that is decorated with similar pieces from the same artist. The uses are only limited to your own imagination!

Scottish Deerhound Dog. I believe that this little page is from a book that I would estimate by the pictures and description to be circa 1960s and from England. It measures approximately 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches, does have some wear and would be great matted and framed. These also make great inexpensive trophies for your club events.
