Of the three Schnauzer breeds from Germany - Miniature, Standard and Giant - the Miniature Schnauzer dog is the smallest. He originated from breedings with the Standard, the Affenpinscher, and the Brussels Griffon just before 1900, and now stands about 23 inches at the shoulder.
